The Rehab and Treatment Aftercare Programme is an 8-session programme for people who have recently left treatment or rehab for an addiction.

The programme includes ongoing support and guidance as well as counselling and therapeutic intervention, psychoeducation, relapse prevention focus and homework assignments. An 8-session online programme to enable you to continue to focus on your recovery upon leaving treatment and talk through and identify any challenges you may be experiencing, as and when they arise. We know the first 90 days are the hardest upon leaving treatment, so having an aftercare plan in place is crucial.

The sessions will enhance your understanding of why you were drinking or using substances or partaking in other impulsive or behavioural addictions such as gambling, sexually compulsive behaviours or technology to name a few.

The programme includes a thorough cost-benefit analysis of the benefits and disadvantages of your addictions on your overall wellbeing as well as your relationships, finances and other affected areas (bio-psycho-social) and the benefits and rewards of maintaining recovery and staying clean and sober.

The objectives of the programme are to:

● have a safe therapeutic environment to explore challenges and obstacles to recovery and set and maintain SMART goals

● understand further your relationship with substances and addictive behaviours and explore the underlying reasons

● understand how addiction affects the body, mind, and spirit (bio-psycho-social model) and learn new coping mechanisms and strategies for managing your recovery

● create a thorough cost-benefit analysis to identify both the pros and cons of recovery and abstaining from addictive behaviours

● understand how the ‘Cycle of Change’ and ‘The Addiction Cycle’ contribute to problem-drinking, substance abuse and behavioural addictions

● understand triggers, cravings, and high-risk situations that are imperative to prevent relapse

● understand the links between your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and actions

● to identify effective and constructive ways of dealing with challenges including action planning and problem-solving techniques

● identify and recognise your core values and how these are impacted by addiction and unhealthy behaviours

● identify your stressors and learn new ways of managing stress without using substances or unhealthy behaviours to distract and soothe

The sessions are an hour each and can be conducted weekly, or twice a week depending on your requirements.
